The folks at Higher Level Tattoo are at it once again, with another stellar comedy showcase set to go down at El Morocco (3534 Broadway – Corner of 145th St) on Friday, October 7th. My good friend and one of the hardest working and most talented comedians/actors out there, Ruperto Vanderpool will be doing his thing alongside Edgar Rivera, Alton Coleman, Miguel “Chandon” Sanchez and Steve Dac. With the super hilarious Tommy 5000 rounding out this amazing line up and holding it down as host. Comedy Uptown on a big stage – you don’t want to miss it. Get your tickets before they are all gone because that won’t be funny. See you there.

Things are a changing Uptown. For the longest, Washington Heights and Inwood have been Stand-Up Comedy wastelands. If you wanted to enjoy a night of laughs at a Comedy Club then you would have to trek downtown or at the very least Harlem. That is no longer the case. The good folks over at Higher Level Tattoos put together a monster of a show last week that was ably hosted by my man Tommy 5000 at the intimate and comfy sports bar, Out 27 (1616 St. Nicholas Ave).

On the billing were none other than Geoff Kole, Edgar Rivera and the multi-talented comedian/actor Ruperto Vanderpool. Talk about a line up. Each comedian had the crowd eating out of their hands and headliner Ruperto, who has rocked stages all the over the world, came out to raucous applause and proceeded to work the crowd like the professional that he is. The Dominican comedic trailblazer was in his element and you could tell the audience felt an honest rapport with the comedian. I had a blast and could honestly say that I haven’t laughed like that in a long time. Kudos to Higher Level Tattoos for producing the event. Stand-Up Comedy now has a foothold Uptown. Things Done Changed.

Ok folks, this is one comedy show you do not want to miss. My good friend and one of the most talented comedians/actors working right now, Ruperto Vanderpool is bringing his comedic magic up to the Heights. Alongside Geoff Kole, Tommy 5000 and Edgar Rivera, this is going to be a ground breaking might of comedy Uptown.

For those that don’t know, Ruperto Vanderpool is a tireless entertainer with a work ethic that is a testament to his blue collar, Boogie Down Bronx, Dominican up bringing. More than just an actor or a comedian, Ruperto Vanderpool will one day be remembered and recognized as a cultural icon that opened doors and crashed through barriers for Dominicans and Latinos alike.

As a stand-up comic, the boisterous Ruperto Vanderpool has appeared on Martin Lawrence Presents The 1st Amendment Stand Up, BET’s Comic View, It’s ShowTime at the Apollo, Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen and was personally selected by P. Diddy to be the only Hispanic to perform for the Bad Boys of Comedy 2nd Season that aired on HBO. Most recently, Ruperto was one of the stand outs in the Broadway production, La Barberia.

Ruperto Vanderpool also won the 1st Annual American Latino Award for Favorite American Latino Comedian after going up against comedic powerhouses George Lopez and Carlos Mencia. Some of his other awards and accolades include The Hispanic Culture Award, Outstanding Entertainer for Operation Iraqi Freedom II and The Dominican Times Magazine’s Entertainer of the Year Award.
